In 1951, Don Hoss founded the firm of D.C. Hoss and Associates,
Consulting Engineers. In the summer of 1959, Ken Brown became an
employee and after six years became a partner. The name of the firm
was changed to D.C. Hoss and K.L. Brown Consulting Engineers. Upon
the death of Don Hoss in the fall of 1984, the firm became a sole
proprietorship under the direction of Ken Brown.
The firm continued as a sole proprietorship until January 1990 when
it was reorganized and incorporated. From 1990 to 1998, the firm
operated as Hoss and Brown Engineers, Inc. with Ken Brown as President and Pete Laughlin as Vice President.
In July of 1998, Hoss and Brown expanded into the Kansas City market
by opening a satellite office. In February, 2003, the Topeka office
relocated to Lawrence, Kansas. This decision was made to help
serve our clients better and to facilitate our continued growth.
This growth has led to the addition of several new partners over the
last decade and Hoss & Brown is now operating with Pete Laughlin
as President, Casey Steiner, Matt Murrell, and Neil Bartley as Vice Presidents and Matt Turley as Associate.
