From Learning to Living: Blenheim School Housing Project

07.13.2017

Blenheim SchoolFeatured on KSHB41, the Blenheim community will soon include a revitalized school repurposed into 52 affordable apartments for seniors ages 55 and up.

Hoss & Brown Engineers is excited to team up on this unique project in Kansas City, Missouri. Construction will begin in the fall of 2017. This is part of the Kansas City school district’s repurposing initiative.

The Blenheim school was built in 1924 and closed 8 years ago. The Sunflower Development Group is transforming this vacant building into a revitalized center for housing, which is welcomed by those living in the community near 71st and Prospect.

Casey Steiner, vice president, and Joel Meddings, senior designer, are leading the engineering team. This project is extra special to our team because Joel attended Kindergarten at Blenheim. Other design and construction partners include Rau Construction, Rosemann & Associates, and Rodriguez Mechanical.
